Plot Outline: After Lucas Nickle floods an ant colony with his watergun, he's magically shrunken down to insect size and sentenced to hard labor in the ruins. Lucas Nickle's the new kid in town and the local bully, Steve, makes sure he knows it. Lucas gets so fed up with being bullied, he takes out his frustration on ants in his backyard in hilarious ways, like squirting them with his garden hose or stamping on the ant hill. The ants are understandably fed up with this and Zoc the ant wizard uses a potion to shrink him down to ant size! Lucas is sentenced to hard labor in the ruins and learns to be more compassionate to ants. He becomes an ant friend, then must become an ant hero when Stan Beals, the local pest control guy, who's an even bigger bully, comes to wipe out the entire colony. An "ants vs pest control" battle ensues and Zoc reluctantly accepts that Lucas may be the ants' only chance of survival.

This movie was an excellent mixture of wonderful voice actors and CGI animation telling the story of Lucas Nickle (Zach Tyler Eisen) continuously getting bullied by the other kids and he takes his anger out on the anthill in his front yard. The ants, who they call Lucas the Destroyer, plot to shrink him to their size and teach him the ways of being an ant. Zoc (Nicholas Cage), the ant wizard concocts a potion to shrink Lucas. The ants want to eat him, but the Queen (Meryl Streep) puts him to work and commands Zoc's girlfriend Hova (Julia Roberts) to teach him. Lucas learns to respect the other ants, but when the exterminator (the damned Paul Giamatti) comes to exterminate the ants after Lucas signed a contract before being shrunk, Lucas, Hova, Zoc, and the ants must stop him. The movie has a very reliable voice cast including Meryl Streep, Nicholas Cage, Julia Roberts, Bruce Campbell, Regina King, and Lily Tomlin as Lucas's nutty alien-believing grandmother Mommo. Anyone who enjoyed A Bug's Life should enjoy this heartwarming and pretty dang funny movie.
