Plot Outline:
Includes the first 13 episodes of season one.      Few shows bottle pure delight like Glee, a Fox TV series about the ups and downs of a high school glee club, or show choir. The show lures you in with its musical numbers, a mix of classic rock and Broadway show tunes performed by a cast of marvelous singers and dancers--but what keeps you watching are the wonderful characters, ranging from Rachel (Lea Michelle), whose self-obsession is as uninhibited as it is annoying; to Emma (Jayma Mays), a germ-phobic guidance counselor hopelessly in love with a married teacher; to Kurt (Chris Colfer), a cherubic young gay man who discovers he's got a fantastic football kick. The center of the show is Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison), the earnest Spanish teacher of McKinley High School, who's determined to guide the glee club to victory at a national competition. He sees this collection of overemotional misfits as heroic, but they're looked down on as losers by the rest of the school--especially Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch, The 40 Year Old Virgin, Best In Show), the ruthless cheerleading coach who will stop at nothing to destroy the glee club before they can take even a fraction of her extravagant budget. Glee fuses adolescent soap opera, the comic pettiness of academic politics, and exuberant song and dance. (While it would be better if the songs weren't so glossily produced, it's impossible to deny the pep and talent of these young performers.) Somehow, the characters manage to be cartoonish yet multidimensional; even the nicest characters are capable of being jerks and the most manipulative have moments of sympathy or grace. For example, Will's wife, Terri (Jessalyn Gilsig), fakes a pregnancy because she's afraid Will is about to leave her for Emma--but as absurd as this scenario is, it's carefully grounded in enough moments of desperate yearning that it becomes completely compelling particularly when Terri seizes on the unwanted pregnancy of lead cheerleader Quinn (Dianna Agron) as the solution to her problem. Throw in vividly colored costume designs and blisteringly funny rants from Sue, and it's easy to see why Glee became an unexpected hit. Volume One: The Road to Sectionals collects the first 13 episodes, along with a smattering of extras that range from charming (the principal leads the audience on a tour through the school) to inane (bland factoids about the actors' favorite colors).

Comment:
Very fast transaction and delivery! My item came very quickly after the transaction was processed and in the condition the seller described! Very satisfied with transaction! Watch With Full Criticism Intact For some reason, Glee almost seems like an accidental success, maybe given the fact that Glee is one of the TV shows I actually watch, given it's nature (in general, I don't watch TV). Glee does a pretty job standing out as being much better than just about everything fictional that revolves around High School. But that's not really why I like this TV show anyway. I find that Glee is a lot of fun to watch (for the most part), has some quirky elements of the works of Brian Fuller, has some good songs, and can be quite funny. However, Glee is also a problematic TV show, and for that reason, requires me to watch with my negative critical tendencies on fully intact through every episode. Anyway, Glee actually seems like a different television fare, or at least a distinctive show. The concept of Glee centers around a Glee Club (duh), but a host of other problems from faked pregnancies to the usual stereotypical boundaries that the students overcome (quite a range actually, though that doesn't mean it's automatically good). The school used to have an amazing Glee Club, but now is floundering horribly. That all changes when a very optimistic (but genuine) Spanish Teacher, a former singer, wants to make the club become well known again. The end result is a lot of bumps in the road that's not going to make the run to the big prize very easy, from relationship problems, and one determined and angry cheerleading coach who's determined to stop Mr. Schuster at all costs. Make no mistake, Glee is nowhere near the quality of Election, Heathers, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, and Dazed and Confused, but given the dire amount of fiction related to High School (actually, that's a good thing!), Glee is on that short list. It's much better than garbage liked Saved by the Bell, and yes, it is much better than those horrid pieces of **** fecal matter that is known as High School Musical. The humor of Glee is also very sharp. Though sometimes not a riot and some of the scenes aren't that funny, I found myself laughing much more than a dozen times. Jane Lynch as Sue Sylvester is so bitter and angry it's hilarious. I love characters like the Nostalgia Critic (who's MUCH better, so don't think I'm comparing the two. Doug Walker deserves his own TV show), so she's one of the funnier characters on the show. Like the show itself, there is as actually very varied amount of different humor in this TV show. It's pretty hard to list the different kinds of humor (I also kind of suck at doing that, so you're on your own). And there is no laugh track either, a type of device that deserves to be destroyed at all costs. A Must-Have for any Gleek!!!! For any newly hooked Glee Fan or dedicated Gleek that wants to have a collection, this 4-dvd set is a must have, the extras are just okay, but has some pretty cool audition footage. I missed some of the season 1 episodes but thanks to this dvd set I am now caught up and am glad to say I am an official "GLEEK"! Glee: season one, Volume 1I had never seen Glee before on TV, but heard wonderful comments about the show. After viewing the first disc I was hooked on the show. It is one of the best shows I've seen in a long time. The comedy, the music and the acting , all wrapped in one, is more than one can imagine. Matthew Morrison is so talented: he acts, sings and dances. Jane Lynch is hysterical and Jayma Mays is quite a comedian. Story line is good. Everyone is talented and does a fantastic job. All in all it rates 5 stars.
